Untitled 03

When I was a small child I would sit and watch my grandmother and her quilting group sew whenever I got the chance to visit her.  I was fascinated by the long ribbon of the binding they made when finishing out the edges of cloth, how it would curl and catch the light in its folds.  I was working in depth and movement and seeing some silk binding for a blanket I was immediately drawn back to the movement of that binding and so produced several pieces such as “Untitled03”.  The American quilt represents the resourcefulness and creativity of women.
