Still There

I drove to this canyon almost every day for 3 years. This is the space where my little kids went to school. I thought they were so big then, but they were just babies really. I painted this piece for an interior staging job. It was designed to be set on a mantle in a fancy home in the canyon. Painting it quickly became a grounding therapy for me as we prepared to move away from this desert home we loved so much. Within a few months of finishing this work, we moved a thousand miles away from this magical space. We are finding new spaces and treasures where we are, but it is still reassuring to remember, that this sun bathed outdoor chapel is "Still There."
