Let Them Play

*This piece is not done...yet, but it's close and I'd love to submit it as a possible piece to have in the show, I just need to spend a little more time with it before I can release it!

The bulk of my work for several years has been commission based, whether it be illustration, design, or fine art. I have been feeling the push to create more work that is self driven and directed. The title of this piece is a reminder to me as a parent to my children but also to me as a parent to my inner child. Create without being told what to do. Create, play. Let them, let me. Play is how children process their learning and experiences. I'm feeling the weight of an overabundance of learning and experiences that need sorting and processing and it is feeling that I may need to allow for a bit more play. Playing is practice, pretending, experimenting, trying. I will let them play. All of them.
