Lina Rincon-Hoover

Lina is a Colombian artist, photographer, and educator.

She moved to the U.S. in 1999. After living in Tampa, Florida for the first 13 years, she relocated to Frisco, Texas in 2012 with her husband and daughter.

Lina holds a B.A. in Art from Universidad Autonoma del Caribe and certification in Art Instruction from Fundacion Universitaria Bellas Artes, both in Colombia. She also holds a certification in Digital Photography from the University of South Florida. In addition to her formal education, she has taken multiple classes and seminars focused on Art and have exhibited her works in both the U.S. and abroad.

Since a young girl art has always; in one way or another been her way of communicating with the world

She happily spends many hours in front of the easel in order to bring her paintings to life. She enjoys the lengthy time she spends focusing on the most basic details and being able to see the transformation from concept and simple brushstrokes into a finished painting. Through her artwork, she seeks to explore the beauty in the simplicity of nature. To appreciate every day like the last because just like we’re here today we can be gone tomorrow.

Her work represents freedom by the means of animals, dancers, abstract, and mixed media. As a result of this, she is able to identify herself. There are no rules, no pressure from the outside world. She is able to express her self via her artwork.

Being an artist, Lina is passionate about art and is happy to serve on the Board of Directors of the Visual Arts Guild of Frisco, is a member of Frisco Art Association, Professional Photography Association and the Texas Visual Art Association where she is also a curator.

Artist Statement

As a Contemporary and expressionistic artist, my art tends to be emotional and full of generous textures.

Close observation and engagement of the subject is my process. The challenge is to see beyond the distraction of the conspicuous to capture its unique self. Some of my subjects show captured the spontaneous movement of the brush strokes, colors, lines, and textures.

My goal is to inspire those who see my work to look more carefully at the world around them, to discover all the beauty around us.”
