Meet "Zain!" Zain is a western attempt at a "rubab", a stringed instrument with origins in Pakistan and Afghanistan. He is named after the son of Pakistani friend's who immigrated to America years ago. He features 4 playable strings and 6 drone strings for ambient effect. His body is a 100+ year-old Original GSB wooden violin case with original hardware. The "fretless" fretboard is repurposed from a cello and the neck and headstock are hand-carved maple. A tradition of Americana is bring together things from around the world, and giving them and “American” spin.
